Jose Mourinho UEFA Champions League Ambitions for Manchester United never TOO Early

Jose Mourinho announced bold plans in his first press conference as Manchester United manager.

Jose Mourinho never shied away from big plans and huge ambitions and that fateful July 2016 conference was the same.  He confidently aimed at United’s return to UEFA’s Champions League by July 2017 and for him to chase more

managerial records in the elite soccer competition.

By July 2017, Mourinho wanted the biggest soccer club in the world Manchester United competing again in UEFA’s Champions League. Jose did not secure the return by playing for top 4, but instead by winning the Europa League and bagging a trophy along the way.

José hit three goals with one stone: Champions League return, Europa League Trophy as manager, and Manchester United bringing home the only Trophy missing from their silverware cabinet.

The signing of Alexis Sanchez (#Alexis7) in this 2018 January transfer window hints at more determined and bold ambitions. This year Mourinho will fight to finish inside the Top 4, but more importantly he will be gunning for the Champions League Trophy.

In today’s press conference for the FA Cup match between Manchester United and Yeovill Town, Jose Mourinho brought up the Champions League and confirmed Alexis Sanchez’s multi-functional positionality on the pitch.

Sanchez can play on the left, the right, behind a striker, and as a striker which emboldens Manchester United’s attacking lines in different football systems and soccer philosophies. Alexis Sanchez brings a wealth of experience and know-how spanning La Ligua, Serie A, and the Premier League.

Jose Mourinho made clear Alexis Sanchez will play alongside the high-quality attackers Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, and Romelu Lukaku to “achieve big things” and keep “fighting for titles.”
